About DuMont Designs

| DuMont Designs began five years ago when I had my first son Jack. I was a middle-school teacher for five years and after my son was born in 2003 I became a stay at home mom. I started sewing as something to do while my son was playing in our basement, and it quickly turned into a passion.

| My mother-in-law, who is a published quilter, bought my first sewing machine, and at the time I couldn't even sew on a button. With some good teaching and quick learning, I began making quilts and sewing baby blankets. A year later my husband surprised me with an embroidery machine, and that is when I really began to focus on my business. After my second son Andrew was born in September 2005, I began selling at craft shows.

| In the spring of 2007 I was diagnosed at age 30 with breast cancer after finding a lump in my left breast during a routine self exam. While this news was completely devastating to us it made me realize the importantance of living life to the fullest and what a blessing it is to be alive. I continued my work with DuMont Designs throughout my treatment and am proud to say that today I am cancer free!!I love making things, interacting with customers, and look forward to many years to come creating for DuMont Deisgns.
